They used a fog machine here to create the mist, but part of the scene was filmed with a green screen in the studio. If you watch closely, you’ll notice that sometimes you can see Edward & Bella’s breath when they talk (filmed outside in the cold air) and sometimes you can’t (filmed in the studio). There’s currently tape around the area where they filmed to let the vegetation return to its natural state.
There are lots of picnic areas, including two tables near the film site. No dogs are allowed because of the wildlife, but there is camping for $15/night, fire pits, restrooms with showers, and RV sites. For more info: http://www.oregonmetro.gov/files/places/oxbow_brochure.pdf

If you drive 3.8 miles into the park, you will arrive at the location site. It is directly across parking station 4 after passing the overnight only sign. It is absolutely amazing to be able walk around the grounds. There is no longer tape blocking the area off. You can literally stand in Bella’s footsteps.
The park rangers pointed us to Anchient Forest which was in the middle of the park. We could not find the location that looked like the right one, but we were running a bit short on time, so didn’t have a lot of time to backtrack. Anyone found the exact location?
