Multnomah Falls

by admin on February 9, 2009

LOCATION
50000 E Historic Columbia River Hwy, Corbett, OR

ACCESS
Open to the public

SCENES
Bella and Edward pass in front of the falls as they walk to the baseball field.

ADDITIONAL INFO
The front of the main building was filmed using green screens, but so far we’re unsure what scenes it was used for or if it got cut from the film. The park rangers in the visitor center are very knowledgeable about film sites throughout the gorge — just cross your fingers for luck and ask, “Do you know anything about the Twilight movie filming?”

Multnomah Falls is the second-tallest year-round waterfall in the nation. The water of the falls drops 620 feet from its origin on Larch Mountain. Hiking trails go up to the bridge in the middle of the falls as well as all the way to the overlook. Work up an appetite? There’s a full restaurant at the lodge with a delicious Sunday brunch (we recommend reservations). Espresso and snacks are available outside.

SOUVENIRS
Full-service gift shop at the lodge with Oregon and Multnomah Falls themed souvenirs. Take lots of pictures!

There is one park ranger in particular that knows a lot about the Twilight filming and has even done a few tours. He wasn’t there when I was visiting but I think they said he’s at Multnomah Falls on Wednesdays. Many of the rangers between Oxbow and and the falls have their own stories to share.

A few of us think the prom parking lot scenes are what they were filming at the front with green screens.

Twilight is the best movie i ever watched. I really love the vampire love story theme and i like Bella Swans character.

I don’t know about the falls from the oregon side being a filming location, but if you’re up for a hike up the trail and look across the columbia river, you’ll find the private field where the vampire baseball scene took place. You can see Multnomah falls in the background as they’re walking to the field in the movie.
