Our loss can be your gain. Our family has to move and we are sad to leave our Twilight retail and tour shop behind. We would love for the store to continue on and we hope to find new owners who will love Twilight and St Helens as much as we do.

ABOUT Experience Twilight

From Blog, to Book, to Shop.

We are crazy Twilight Fans who are lucky enough to live where Twilight was filmed! St Helens, OR is the hometown of the Swan House and eight additional Twilight film locations. It’s just a short drive from the Cullen House, the High School, Carver Cafe and all the rest.

Our name promises an experience and we intend to deliver. Come to St Helens where you can walk in the footsteps of the stars and crew! Many people don’t know that a large portion of Twilight was filmed in little old St Helens, Oregon– just 30 minutes West of Portland, OR. There were nine sets and a lot of background filmed here. The main street in Old Town, where our shop is located, was transformed to become the streets of Port Angeles. The front of our store actually appears in one our favorite scenes. You’ve read the books and seen the movies. Come, Experience Twilight!

Experience Twilight has a Twilight Fan Store that provides an experience all it’s own. We’re glad to help with directions, visitor info or even your special event. We like to take fans pictures for our fan wall. We’ll chat with you endlessly about Twilight, if you’re in the mood. We have guided walking tours. Best of all, our store is filled with Twilight items from Forks, La Push and around the world. We have t-shirts, decals, jewelry, sparkling vampire venom, rain from Forks, sand from La Push, home decor, suckers, official merchandise, authentic replicas from the movie, exclusive autographed items and more!

Sit back and relax. We’ll do the driving. You’ll see Twilight movie sets around the Portland area, have lunch at a Twilight set, an exclusive private tour, a stop for shopping where the stars shopped and more. You might want to polish up on your Twilight trivia for the car ride and be sure to pack a camera!

While creating the Experience Twilight book and sites, we meet so many fun people who are nice enough to help us with research and provide us with location information. If it weren’t for these people, who knows where we would be! One of these people is Kasey, who helped us confirm the actual location of the baseball field from Twilight. She discovered this on her own Twilight trip! Here is the story of Kasey’s Adventure!

“Every year my family and I come out west from MN to go camping. This year we were able to make it all the way to the coast. Since my birthday is around our camping time, I begged my parents for a “Twilight” birthday. I asked if we could try to hit as many of the filming sites (as well as the book sites) as possible in the limited time we had. Needless to say they granted my wish (I secretly think they are closet Twilighters also!). We were able to hit a good deal of the spots. After getting off the Keystone Ferry we drove from Port Townsend to Sequim (and found out it’s pronounced Squim; I now correct the audio book reader every time she mispronounces it!) to get camping info. From there we rode down Hwy 101 to Port Angeles so I could take a picture of Bella Italia and boy did I get a ton of people staring at me, you’d think they had never seen a Twilighter before.

That night we camped at Crescent Lake campground (located off Hwy 101 and mentioned in New Moon on page 257). I could barely sleep that night knowing that I was just 8 short hours from visiting Forks!!! The next day we spent a few hours exploring Forks; I found it quite funny that it was very hot and sunny this day (maybe that’s why the Cullens were MIA hmm…). We visited Dazzled By Twilight, Forks Highschool, Forks Hospital, the Calawah River as well as the Sol Duc. Having the books come to life right in front of me was an indescribable feeling; one I’m not likely to forget. I didn’t get to see all the sights that Forks had to offer due to many more stops that day and the tight time constraints we were under.

The next day proved to be even more epic than visiting Forks the day before (You’re wondering what could possibly top Forks right? Well my friend…this day did.) A few weeks before the trip I came across the Experience Twilight website and fell in love. The time and effort put into this is simply amazing and remarkable and I can’t thank these girls enough for what they’ve done for not only me but for all us Twilighters, you girls rock!! From their website I was able to get all the info I needed to find the filming sights. The first stop of the day was to visit Kalama HS (and yes I sat and had my picture taken in all the spots shown in the movie).

But they had a mystery on their hands. Where was the baseball field exactly?? So I spent about a week researching the 2 addresses they provided and scoured over Google maps and my street atlas program. I thought I had found it but wouldn’t know for sure until I made it out there. Well the day came and after about an hour of hiking through some of the largest blackberry thorns I have ever seen, almost getting smooshed by a train and getting completely turned around; I had found it (well me and my brother but he was just there for the exploring new territory part; he’ll cut off his fingers before he admits he likes Twilight). I simply couldn’t believe that I was standing where Twilight was filmed, let alone the cast we have all grown to love!!

The view of the Columbia River Gorge and Multnomah Falls is breath taking and this was the best day of my life. I felt such a sense of accomplishment! To this day I still have blackberry stains on my tennis shoes which I refuse to wash off :-D As soon as I had good internet connection I emailed Kathy and Jessica to share the information I had gotten with the hope that other Twilighters would get to live their dreams as well.

The next stop on our Twilight tour was the Bridge of the Gods which is seen as Charlie and Bella are driving over it at the beginning of the movie. We crossed over the bridge and into Oregon, needless to say that I was sad to be leaving Washington behind. This state (as well as Oregon) has become my favorite; previously it was Montana (because of the mountains, but please Twilight completely wins out over those!). To get a good view of the bridge it was suggested you drive down a few blocks, so that is what we did and we were not disappointed.

Well we were fighting the sunset so we hightailed it to Multnomah Falls and me and my brother ran up the trail to the bridge about half way up. This wasn’t in the movie but it was included in the illustrated movie companion. That was it for the day and I was so keyed up after finding the baseball field that I don’t think I got more than two hours of sleep that night and I think my family wished that they had invested in ear plugs because I was talking a whole lot more than usual. I’m sure they’ll be glad once my Twi-session is over!

The next day we started the Oregon portion of my Twilight birthday tour. Today we started off by visiting the Carver Café and boy was I surprised. The café looked so much bigger in the movie (guess that’s why it’s called movie magic). There were a group of people sitting at Bella’s and Charlie’s spot and I’m upset with myself because I was too much of a chicken to ask them to move for a sec so I could get a picture. Oh well; I did get a picture of the outside of the café and that was well worth the trip anyway.

From the Carver Café we drove mostly east and went to visit the Stone Cliff Inn to see the area where they filmed such scenes as “The Lion and the Lamb; and where Edward shows Bella why he’s the most dangerous predator. This was a nice little inn and I like how they placed plaques telling fans which scenes were filmed where.

We left the Inn and headed to Portland to visit a cousin and had I remembered that the warehouse (where the ballet studio was made) we would’ve stopped here. But as it was we continued west towards the ocean and the last stop on my Twilight birthday tour. Needless to say it was raining but as we pulled into the parking lot at Indian Beach in Ecola State Park, the sun came out and produced the most beautiful god rays I have ever seen. We stayed here for a little while and I took tons of pictures of the rocks that Kristen and Taylor walk by during the scene where Jake tells Bella about Quileute histories. While walking the beach I found a giant peace sign that someone had made with rocks; maybe they want the vampires and wolves to get along??

Though our trip was not near over, this was the end of the Twilight portion. It was so interesting to follow the filming sites of a movie; that in and of itself was an experience. But the fact that I stood where the Twilight actors stood and filmed was simply beyond amazing. The Pacific NW/WA and Oregon for that matter are such beautiful states and I can’t wait to visit them again. A HUGE thank you to the Experience Twilight team without whom none of this would have been possible!

Thanks Kasey for sharing your trip with us and for helping us find the baseball field!! Looks like a fun trip! We are glad to hear you had a fun time and we are glad we could be a part of it!

This is Ellen’s Twilight trip from her blog Krugers Scraps. She gave us permission to repost it here to share it with all of you!!

We took our picture with Bella’s truck at the park, did a tour of the Forks High School, took a  picture at Dr. Cullen’s parking spot at the Hospital, drove by the Police Department…One of the things ‘the family’ had a little confusion with was that the things we were seeing weren’t in the movie….I had to keep reminding them…now this is where Bella was in the REAL story – the BOOK, they just weren’t able to film here, but this is the REAL PLACE….etc.

We stopped at every booth at Tillicum Park. Tristan was mesmerized by a local young man creating glass beads, inspired by Twilight…His grandmother was selling the beads made into necklaces with little metal charms that say ‘forks’ or hearts that have B & E on them, with keys and just very cool eclectic style to them. I couldn’t decide on one, but I found a bead that I loved and am having them rework the stuff on it with a Forks tag and a key that I liked. They’re going to mail it to me. I’m also going to order a couple of the small beads for Tristan and Shelby to make their own bracelets with.  check it out at http://www.theforksforest.etsy.com/

My favorite store is ‘Dazzled by Twilight’ – every single thing in the store is Twilight stuff, including the window displays of Emmett and Rosalies wedding, Rosalies Wedding dress and veil, Jaspers Union soldier outfit from the civil war, and a certain ‘baby vampire with a bottle of red liquid…The ambiance inside is amazing – trees, water, and a gazebo with lights for a ‘prom’ photo -op. In the back is  black light room where everything glows.  Also in the back are several cases displaying the owners prized possessions – autographed photos posters, and one of a kind collectibles from her experiences with the Twilight crew.

After dinner, we went down to First Beach, and there was already a bonfire going…we thought we’d have to wait for sunset, but before long here comes Mark, the Quileute storyteller, with a gal who’s head of the reservation school, and Tinsel Corey, who plays Emily in ‘New Moon’!! After the storytelling Tinsel was available for autographs and pictures….I didn’t have $20 cash to pay for an autograph so we got a picture with her – at least something. All the proceeds from her autographs and photos go directly to the reservation school. She also spent some time at the school talking to the kids and giving some acting advice/lessons. If we hadn’t had dinner early, we wouldn’t have been down to the beach on time to hear the stories and see her.  Amazing how things worked out.  Storytelling is a very sacred tradition with the people, so they ask that no one video tape or take pictures during the storytelling.   These activities also ‘break the circle’ the strength and vision that the storytelling circle create.  I did take one picture of Mark (ya ya, I ran back to the car for my New Moon book, and didn’t hear the part about no pictures, so someone told me and I stopped – but no I’m not deleting the picture!), but it won’t be posted here, out of respect for their wishes.  It’ll be in my scrapbook, along with the picture of me and the kids with Tinsel.

Sunday, on the way home, we stopped at Kalama High School and took pictures where the movie was actually filmed….all the scenes at the school in the movie are here, we even walked up the hill in the back of the school as if we were going into the woods like Bella and Edward and they thought that was really fun. Kalama is really charming (steep) early 1900′s houses on hills and lots of beautiful views. I can see why they filmed there, but it was one of the few places actually in Washington where they filmed. Apparently it was to expensive with the sales tax in WA…and Twilight was done on a pretty small budget.

We plan on visiting few more of the movie locations in Carver, St Helens and Cannon Beach. I’ve never done anything like this before -but it is really fun!

UPDATE: After Ellen and her family got back from their Twilight trip, they found out they won the Twilight Board Game at a raffle in Forks. She was nice enough to share the story and pictures with us!!

You will never guess what happened! My daughter Shelby won the drawing at Sully’s Drive In from Bella’s birthday weekend! A box arrived in the mail on Monday addressed to her, with a return address from Forks, but no name. We thought, “did she forget something at the place we stayed and they’re mailing it back?”

But no, inside we were ECSTATIC to find the Twilight Board Game, and a personal note from Bruce Guckenberg, the owner of Sully’s Drive In.

We sat right down after dinner Monday night and played until bedtime.  It is a pretty fun game, you draw cards, answer trivia questions or do story challenges, and you try to manuever around the board and collect 8 scene cards.  Whoever collects the 8 scene cards first wins the game …..I won!

Here is a picture of Shelby just after she opened the package,

and one later of us playing the game

Hey Kathy…

We just got back from our trip yesterday and I couldn’t wait to contact you in regards to your book.  It was the best thing we brought with us besides the camera.

We didn’t use it too much in Forks because we took the Dazzled by Twilight tour which took us all around Forks and La Push.  We did use the book for the shopping locations and it was perfect.  I’m not sure if you can include anything in your book about hotels and restaurants…but the map we received at the visitors center was really helpful.  We had breakfast both days at teh Forks Coffee HOuse and thought of Katherine Harwick eating there!!!

The book was most helpful on the trip to the movie locations.  I didn’t do enough research before we left to determine the exact locations of all the places to visit…so I would recommend adding one page with a map of Oregon with the locations of each site.  WE did a pretty good job, but had to do some backtracking.  But the drive is beautiful there, so I didn’t mind.

Our first stop was the Kalama High School.  The day we visited it was 104 degrees!!!  It was awful.  We stood in amazement in the parking lot and my daughter was afraid to walk the school.  Not me…so I grabbed the camera and started walking.  I met up with the Superintendant of the school district and he was so nice.  Because of your book and the comment about his daughter being an extra in the movie….he gave us the extra special tour.  WE showed him the book and he got a kick out of it.  He was going to order a copy for his daughter.  He let us into the admin offices to cool off and use the bathrooms.  They had just created new t-shirts for the school and we were able to purchase them.  You might want to include this in your book.  I showed him the stamps and he was going to stamp the book for us, but he couldn’t find his school stamp…so he gave us his business card instead.

He gave us a map of the school with all the locations of the filiming during the movie.  Again…don’t know if you can include this in your book, but it would be helpful.  They have the maps on teh grounds…but I coulnd’t find where he said they were located.  They filmed a lot there…all the school stuff…the hospital scene…the batting cages (Bella’s mom is calling her from Florida).  I saved a copy of the map if you want me to copy and send you a PDF version.  The gym was also open..they were cleaning the grounds…so I was able to sneak in and get a picture there.

The other location that was my favorite was the Cullen house.  No one else had this address, except for your book.  You might want to check into this a bit more because when we visited there was a moving van.  The house was totally empty.  Because it was empty we felt we could get a little close to take pictures and not intrude.  I’m not sure if they original owners sold the house because of the visitors…but it might be something you want to look into.  I was going to ask the moving guys if the house was open…but changed my mind.

Again…the book was a blessing.  All the information was great and it was great to have all the addresses.

The other funny thing that happened…I made a reservation for a night at the View Point Inn.  It was 97 degrees when we got there at 6:30 at night.  Because the place is a historical landmark, they can’t do any upgrades to it…so no air conditioning.  We ended up cancelling our reservation because it was way too hot to sleep there with just a fan in the window.  They were very nice about the situation and refunded our money.  The food there was wonderful and so was the staff.  Figures the one week we picked to travel was the hottest week they ever had in history in that area!!!!  :)

Let me know if you need any further info for the book.  We showed it to many people along the trip and they were really impressed with it.

Thanks again!!!

Liz

P.S. I will be posting our pictures from teh trip soon.  I want to include the two locations from Valencia in our pictures, since most others that took this trip won’t have those!!!

Staci had some issues getting internet connection at Twi-Con but is now online and getting us the latest info. To you, from Staci of 98331 GEAR, here is an update of what’s been going on since they arrived in Dallas early Wednesday morning: (I took the liberty of highlighting some of my favorite parts)

7.29.2009
OMG…we havent slept in 24 hours and we still have work to do. We got all of our stuff to the hotel and now we have to go to dinner with my great aunt and cousins I haven’t seen in more than fifteen years….uuugghh…love em but I’m so freakin tired.

7.29.2009
We are back from dinner now and it’s 11:00pm. We still have to put our sign together and finish some merchandise we need to start selling tomorrow.

7.30.2009
We did get to bed at 3:00am and had to be back up at 6:00am so we did get a few hours sleep last night. We are now setting up for Twicon! The changed the dimensions on the booth so nothing we brought fits the right way. We are having to improvise very quickly, thank goodness my family is here to help.

7.30.2009
People have been lining up for registration that doesn’t take place for another four hours! There are so many people here! I am going to some video for you all!

7.30.2009
You guys won’t believe what’s happening! People are hooping and hollering & chanting to get in…doing some more video…

7.30.2009
I have no internet! I cannot load my clips from TwiCon! oh…my eyes hurt from wearing contacts all day in tired eyes.

7.31.2009
I still have no freakin internet! I have called tech support and they are no stinkin help! Crap! But TwiCon is fabulous! All the vendors are very friendly and we have found so much fun stuff we will be getting for the store! Just wait till you get to Forks! BTW there are some girls dressed up like the Twilight book covers..so cute but they move very quickly so I haven’t been able to get a pic. There is also a make-up artist who has been paged to do an actor’s make-up! We are all anxiously awaiting who it will be! Security is beefing up so the actors must be getting here.

7.31.2009
It’s 11:00pm and tech support is sending someone to replace the internet cable in the room so I can hook up…for $20 freakin dollars a day….

7.31.2009
It’s 11:30 pm and tech support sent someone to our room who had no idea what do do…OMG I’m so irritated. They will take care of it in the morning…so they say…

8.1.2009
Well they replaced the cable….still no internet. Now I’m pissed.

8.1.09
hahahaha…we are having so much fun today. It has been all about PR. We have been interviewed by “What the Forks” and MTV!!! We have also been invited to another conference in Salt Lake City. It is being put on by the Twilight Moms and they are expecting more than 10,000 attendies! I was actually invited by Lisa herself (the head cheese of TM). Gotta run for now.

8.1.2009
The guy next to me has had internet all along! He gave me his password so I would log onto his wifi…said i should have asked to begin with! How the heck would I know that he had internet?! So now I can load all my videos, pics and messages to you all!

8.1.2008
Just had my pic taken w/a bella & edward look-a-like! They did such a good job, wait till you see the pic!

8.1.2009
Well…we are doing pretty well…we are not going to sell out and go home with a load of cash but we are not going to go home w/a complete loss…AAAND we have met so many talented artists and fabulous people here. It has been so great to network with everyone. I’m not sure we will be doing a show so far away from home again but we will definitely be doing more shows!
